- Two-Wheeler Industry Records Increase in September 2019 MoM Sales
Snapshot: Several leading bike manufacturers such as Hero, Honda and Bajaj registered growth in September 2019 sales as compared to August 2019, indicating an improvement in the market.

Hero registered MoM growth of 12.66 percent in September 2019.
Honda witnessed MoM growth of 7.10 percent in September 2019.
All two-wheeler makers are offering discounts and benefits to accelerate sales.
The two-wheeler sales in the month of September 2019 has witnessed a growth of 9 percent as compared to August 2019 in the Indian market. Almost every major two-wheeler manufacturer such as Hero MotoCorp, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India and Bajaj Auto registered month-on-month growth in September 2019 sales. However, overall two-wheeler sales still had a decline of 21 percent as compared to September 2018.
Hero MotoCorp, being the country’s largest bikemaker, sold 6,12,204 units in September 2019 as compared to 5,45,406 units retailed in August 2019, hence by recording a growth of 12.66 percent. Although, it is still a de-growth of 18.21 percent as compared to September 2018 when the company had sold 7,48,535 units.
The country’s second-largest bike manufacturer Honda recorded total sales of 4,55,892 units last month which is around a month-on-month increase of 7.10 percent as compared to August 2019 when the company had sold a total of 4,25,664 units. But it was still way lesser than September 2018 when Honda had managed to take the sales number to 5,20,400 units.
This increase in month-on-month sales is an indication that the auto industry is coming back on track gradually. The festive season is also approaching and hence the companies are also offering several benefits and discounts.
Honda is offering discounts of up to Rs 11,000 on all the models in its portfolio while an additional discount of Rs 7,000 can also be availed if the payment is made online via Paytm.
Honda had recently introduced the country’s first BS 6 certified two-wheeler in form of the Activa 125 and all the other automakers are following the suit ahead of the April 1, 2020 deadline.
