KTM 390 Adventure ready for launch.
IBW was chosen as a launch platform.
The launch date is December 6 or 7.
It will be priced around the Rs 3 lakh mark.
The KTM 390 Adventure finally has a launch date: December 6, 2019. The long-awaited model from the Austrian manufacturer will be launched at the India Bike Week event this year.
The 390 Adventure is the last variant of KTM’s small platform and has been in the pipeline for a generation and a half of the other models based on a similar platform – the Duke street bike series and the RC sportbike series. Unlike those two, it is not expected that that Adventure will have a range with different displacements right from launch.
The bike has been spotted running with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel size combination, but with alloy wheels, like the BMW G 310 GS – a variant with spoked rims is also expected at some point.
It uses a chassis and suspension very different from the Duke and RC series but is expected to use the same 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that generates 44bhp and 37Nm. However, the gearing will be changed to suit the 390 Adventure’s application – namely that of long rides and mild off-road usage.

The KTM 390 Adventure is expected to carry a price tag of approximately Rs 3 lakh or so ex-showroom, which means it will be priced significantly lower than the BMW G 310 GS, its main rival in the Indian market.
The Kawasaki Versys X 300 is similar in terms of specification but is in a whole different price bracket. Like the Kawasaki, KTM 390 Adventure is expected to be a more off-road focused adventure touring motorcycle, unlike the BMW. KTM has a long history of winning off-road rally races, which is why there are a lot of expectations from the 390 Adventure.
