Mini has announced a limited edition of the Mini Countryman, called the Mini Countryman Black Edition. It is priced at Rs 42.4 lakh, ex-showroom, which is a Rs 1 lakh premium over the Cooper S JCW variant on which it is based.

The Mini Countryman Black Edition gets a blacked-out interior as well as exterior, and a few accessories unique to it. These include a black grille, matte black hood stripes, gloss black surrounds for the lights, black roof rails, carbon fiber finished mirror covers and black ‘Countryman’ lettering on the tailgate.

Mini Countryman Black Edition features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lamps, a rear wing, a panoramic sunroof, and the John Cooper Works body kit. Also on the list are keyless entry and go, an automatic tailgate, automatic headlamps and wipers, electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera.

There is the usual raft of safety features, including airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Traction Control, etc.

There are no mechanical or performance changes to the Mini Countryman Black Edition. It shares the Cooper S and Cooper S JCW’s engine and gearbox, which are a 190bhp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The Mini Countryman Black Edition is limited to just 24 units in the Indian market, which guarantees exclusivity for the 24 customers who purchase it.

It competes with the BMW X1, Volvo XC40, Audi Q3, and Mercedes Benz GLA in the Indian market. There are also the top-spec versions of SUVs from non-premium brands like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour that are available at a similar price.
