Mahindra is planning to launch the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 by the middle of next year. Spy shots reveal exciting changes to the design of the updated version.
The existing Mahindra XUV500 has distinctive cheetah-claw handles. Spy videos show that the updated version of the SUV comes with flush-fitting handles instead of the cheetah-claw design.
However, one does not know whether these handles will feature the pop-out function as seen in the latest Range Rovers and Tesla. Maybe, the vehicle could sport a lever-type arrangement as seen on the Aston Martin models.
One alteration is guaranteed, and that is the new Mahindra XUV500 will get different door handles. One can expect the handles to provide the more exceptional aerodynamic ability to the Mahindra XUV500.
Though the inherent design of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be the same as the outgoing one, there will be distinct design tweaks on offer. The Mahindra Family grille, the smaller headlamps, and an upright nose could be some distinguishing features. One can also hope to get a glimpse of LED DRLs as available on the Mahindra XUV300. The higher-end variants could sport this feature.
The front fender of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 gets a fresh design. Though the SUV comes with similar windows as available on the outgoing model. The unusual kink feature on the rear door along the window line is a distinguishing one. This design is available on the Alturas G4, Mahindra XUV300, and Mahindra Scorpio.
The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 interiors could be similar to that available on the Marazzo MPV. The dashboard, upholstery, and the advanced infotainment system are some highlighting features.
Expect the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 to come with a BSVI-compliant 2.2L diesel engine with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). This engine is capable of delivering 180hp of power. It mates with either a 6-speed torque converter automatic or 6-speed manual transmission system.
More details will be available as the launch date of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 draws near.
