It is being retailed as K5 in South Korea.
Kia Motors has started teasing the world with the 2021 Kia Optima sedan, which is christened as the new ‘K5’ for the South-Korean market. The new sedan will come with a more contemporary appearance and modern features. The teaser images are actually that of the Korea-spec model which is sold under the ‘K5’ badge.
Going by the teaser images, the 2021 Kia Optima takes a radical departure in terms of styling as compared to the current model. The Kia designers have put their blood and sweat in such a manner that it appears like a model of a higher segment.
The front fascia flaunts Kia’s signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille with the headlamps almost integrated into the front grille. The headlights also feature Z-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). As for the side profile, it will have a sloped roofline while the spy images indicated the absence of door handles but, on the contrary, the production-spec model will get door handles.
The rear end of the 2021 Kia Optima will boast of a wide LED tail-lamp cluster while the boot lid will get chrome treatment. In addition, the dual exhaust pipes will further accentuate the sportiness of the sedan. Though not much is known about the interior cabin the teaser images have revealed an all-digital instrument cluster and a big touchscreen infotainment system.
It is also being learned that the center console will sport an uncluttered appearance with very few buttons while the gear lever is expected to be replaced by a rotary shifter.
