Hyundai has updated the i20 Active. This is a minor update that consists of the government-mandated safety features required across all cars sold in the country, and it has increased the price of the i20 Active by Rs 2000. The range now starts at Rs 7.74 lakh.
The safety features that have been added to the i20 Active are reverse parking sensors, a reverse camera, front seat belt reminder, and a high-speed warning buzzer. Everything else about the i20 Active remains the same.
The styling remains based on the i20, but with more off-road type touches like a front bumper with a faux skid plate. The sides have matte black cladding for the wheel arches and doors, and the roof had roof rails to give it a more rugged look.
While the looks are based on the i20 before the facelift, the interior has been updated with bits from the current i20, like the ‘Arkamys’ audio system. You are thus offered Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but no BlueLink, which the latest Hyundais are fitted with. There is, however, a wireless phone charging port in the i20 Active.
Driveline options consist of a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 81 bhp and 115 Nm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, or a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel that generates 88 bhp and 220 Nm. The diesel is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. No automatic gearbox is currently on offer.
The Hyundai i20 Active competes with the likes of the Honda WR-V, and Ford Freestyle, although customers also can consider the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, which costs a little more.
