  • KTM has revealed the new KTM 390 Adventure at the EICMA 2019.

  • The new KTM 390 Adventure comes with exquisite features.

  • The Indian launch of the new KTM 390 Adventure could happen anytime in December this year.

The much-awaited unveiling of the 2020 KTM 390 Adventure took place at the EICMA 2019 along with the revelation of the 890 Duke R and 1290 Super Duke R.

The unveiled model had an alloy wheel setup, whereas bike enthusiasts hoped to see the wire-spoke wheels and a tail-set front fender. It would have imparted an off-road-ready appearance to the bike.

The windscreen, along with the side panels provide protection from the wind. The panels do an additional job of pushing the air away from the rider to offer a delightful riding experience. The best aspect is that the windscreen is adjustable with KTM PowerParts offering two sizes of windshields.

The color TFT display situated behind the windshield features Bluetooth connectivity to entertain the riders. The bike gets more functionality because of the optional turn-to-turn navigation app. The rider can access the functions on the TFT through the motorcycle switchgear.

Split-style seating arrangement and a pillion grab rail follow the fuel tank to give it a stylish look. The LED taillamp adds style to the rear section. It comes with a short fender to hold the number plate. The bike will be available in white and orange color options.

Based on the KTM 390 Duke, the new 390 Adventure gets its power from a 373.2 liquid-cooled single-cylinder, 4-stroke and 4-valve DOHC engine. This engine delivers a power of 43hp and torque of 37Nm.

Catalytic converters and EVAP system (fuel tank ventilation) prevents the emission of fuel vapors and improves emission values. The international model could include an additional AKRAPOVIC ‘SLIP-ON LINE.’

The powerful engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. There are no selective riding modes in the KTM 390 Adventure.

A steel trellis frame along with a bolted sub-frame lend durability to the bike. An open-lattice die-cast swingarm also forms part of the bike accessories. Adjustable WP APEX 43mm shock absorbers enhance the comfort factor while riding the bike.

The front braking duties are handled by a 320mm single disc brake with a 4-piston radial fixed caliper, whereas the rear wheel gets a 230mm rotor and a single-piston floating caliper. The bike receives Bosch 9M+ dual-channel ABS. The rider has the option of disengaging the ABS system if necessary.

The tall handlebar makes it easy for the rider to reach it while standing on the footpegs. The seat height of 858mm can be a matter of concern for some riders. Removable rubber inserts on the footrests are another valuable addition to the external features. The bike comes with a full set of PowerParts.

The expected Indian launch of the new KTM 390 Adventure could happen in December though the company has not finalized it now. The manufacturing of the new KTM 390 Adventure will be done at Bajaj’s Chakan plant, Pune.
